That said, cashew trees will grow well in most soils as long as it they’re well draining. Position your tree in sandy or sandy-loam soil with a pH level between 5 and 6.5. This acclimatization period is a vital step in helping tender plants thrive in their new environment. The best time to do this is in the spring, as this gives the tree plenty of time to establish itself before winter.īefore you plant out the young trees, allow the plants to harden off for a couple of weeks. Planting out Cashew Trees siwan / PixabayĪs the cashew trees begin to outgrow their pots, it’s time to plant them out. When water begins to drip through the drainage holes, the soil has taken on enough moisture and you can stop watering. If you’re unsure of how much water to give a plant, try watering it over a sink or bucket. Germination will take anywhere from four days to three weeks.Īs the seedlings grow, make sure that they get plenty of light and water. The pots should also be regularly checked to ensure that they don’t dry out. Don’t place them in direct sunlight: too much heat can burn seedling leaves and cause plants to fail. This means that they shouldn’t be allowed to sit in overly wet soil. The pot should be clean and have drainage holes in the bottom. Weaker seedlings can be thinned out later on. Sowing more than one seed increases ther chances of producing a healthy cashew tree. Sow cashew seeds either into smaller individual pots or into one larger pot. You can sow seeds into pots at any time of year, as they’ll will grow happily in pots until they’re ready to be planted out. By doing this, you can give them a bit of extra attention and protection. Start cashew seeds in pots, instead of planting them straight into the ground. Dry fresh seeds in the sun for three days before sowing. (A cashew seed is the cashew nut still inside the kernel.) The seed should be no more than four months old-any older and it won’t germinate. Germination is an easy process: just make sure that you use fresh cashew seeds. Growing a Cashew Tree from Seed suhasrawool / Pixabay It’ll take up to seven years before your trees can produce their optimum yield. A quicker method is to purchase a grafted cashew tree: these tend to bear fruit within 18 months. Trees grown from seed will take up to three years to bear fruit. ![]() Boston's are pretty cool since they're so old. Station Design- Apples and Oranges for the underground stations but I still like Boston's. In fact, it's much easier to "cheat" and not pay on the Green Line than Muni Metro (there are no such thing as transfer slips in Boston) so I'd say that Muni wins this one by a landslide. The button near each door on Muni Metro is a nice feature. ![]() The renderings of Boston's new ones are pretty cool though. Rail Car Design- I like Muni Metro's cars better (in terms of color and style). Boston has some TOD at places like Riverside Station, but both Muni Metro and the Green Line serve healthy urban areas. In both cities, the areas around the lines are doing well economically and I'd say that most people in either city would say that each line is important. In both cases, these lines cover mostly pre-existing urban areas. economic growth around stations (TOD development)- Tough call. Without seeing budget numbers for both systems, I'd say it's fairly easy to pick the Green Line. As far as operating Cost effectiveness goes, the Green Line serves more people in less space. It's also expanding up to Medford soon which will be great for Tufts students. efficiency- Given that the Green Line serves more people with fewer miles of track, it's hard to argue against it. Muni Metro has a few shared stops with BART and a CALTrain stop, but it's not nearly as interconnected. It's connected to all of the other lines (Red, Blue and Orange) with free transfer and also has commuter rail connections at Back Bay Station (via Copley) and North Station among others. inter-connectedness to Overall Mass Transit Network- Green Line by a mile. I like the Red/Gray color scheme and the steps that drop down and raise up are pretty cool. The Green Line has designated space ROW space in the middle of most streets (The E is on the street after Brigham Circle, but that's a small run) and sometimes off the street while Metro runs almost like a bus on rails. ![]() In the end, i feel this game is a classic due in no small part its ability to not just be a killing and driving game like many others, but made excellent by the method of HOW you finish your opponent and HOW you drive them into the dust and the tactics. The story is wonderful in that it leads you through this forsaken hell hole but lets you do your own thing in a way. The challenges that you try to complete, and that have you either elated or seething. The game itself is a beautiful rendering detail at times, immersing me into a that Mel Gibson film i saw as a child and weirdly wished i could be in. The car combat is one where you can choose how to take them down, the easy option there, but wanting to do so with flames or with a ramming blow? The fights are almost a pleasure to have to try and make it through unscathed, or better, with the bonuses of making bonus kills. The game has a beautiful feel to it, the movement, the grace to everything. So, if you have followed me so far, you should be asking "Why the hell have you given this a positive rating while claiming it's a classic, and yet ripped it apart?"ģ simple letters, which in this case I deem to be the most useful. The vehicular combat is a repetitive affair, pretty much just chosing HOW to kill them, depending on the awards or achievements you have outstanding. By the time you have the best and strongest setup and vehicle(s) in the game, there is almost nothing left to do because to GET the best, you have to have beaten everything. Also, one of the worst games to complete in the way of how it ends (i will NOT spoil it). The story line is fixed and while you can choose whether or not to follow it or do your own thing, it always only has the one outcome. The game play is almost always the same, kick the hell out of guys until they stop screaming at you, then find a stick and beat them some more. You can only customise one car and it's a jostle between a speedster or a tank. This game, i believe, is a true classic, and one i struggle to truly explain why. ![]() |
